European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF)

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) sport in Europe is becoming increasingly popular. LGBT sports groups have already formed in most large West European cities. In other parts of Europe one can see the same development, though not yet on the same scale.

The European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation was founded in 1989. Its aims are to :

- fight against discrimination in sport on grounds of sexual preference
- stimulate integration in sport and emancipation of lesbians and gays
- enable and support the coming out of gay and lesbian sports men and women
- exchange information and enable co-ordination between European sport groups and tournaments
- support the founding of new gay / lesbian / bisexual / straight / transgendered and mixed sport groups.

Federation of Gay Games (FGG)

The Federation of Gay Games ensures that the Gay Games offers participants the opportunity to express themselves openly and to experience camaraderie and validation through sport and culture.

The purpose of the Federation of Gay Games is to foster and augment the self-respect of lesbians and gay men throughout the world and to engender respect and understanding from the nongay world, primarily through an organized international participatory athletic and cultural event held every four years, and commonly known as the Gay Games.

While particular emphasis is placed on these specific goals, it is a fundamental principle of the Federation of Gay Games that all activities conducted under its auspices shall be inclusive in nature and that no individual shall be excluded from participating on the basis of sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, nationality, ethnic origin, political belief(s), athletic/artistic ability, physical challenge, age, or health status.

Between July 31st and August 7th in 2010 the Gay Games VIII will take place in Cologne, Germany. Thousand of international participants from all over the world are expected to take part in this sport and cultural event. Le magazine naît en novembre 1982 sous le nom de Lesbia avant de devenir Lesbia Magazine en 1989. Il fut créé à la suite d’une annonce parue dans Gai Pied par Christiane Jouve et Catherine Marjollet. Le magazine adhère à l’IGLA et à la Coordination Lesbienne, et décerne un prix au festival organisé par Cinefable.
